IMPORTANT UPDATE: Paddle the Grand Fundraiser!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The rain that we endured in Southwestern Ontario has raised water levels to an unsafe level. In consultation with Grand River Conservation Authority and others, we have opted to change the plan for Saturday. Rather then paddling down the Grand River, we’ll walk/hike along the Millrace in St. Jacobs which is part of the Trans Canada Trail and runs beside the Conestogo River. The walk itself is 2 kms, ranges in duration from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours and is an “out and back” hike. The trail is very well maintained.

Following the hike, we’ll meet at the Schoolhouse Theatre in St. Jacobs which the Shantz family has made available to us for dinner and a quick annual meeting. We hope to eat and meet at 5:30 pm.

Paddle the Grand is Silver Lake’s only annual fundraising event. Proceeds from this fun, inter-generational, family-friendly event go toward general operating costs such as staff wages, food, camperships, programming etc. On Saturday May 13, 2017 at 2 pm participants will paddle enmass down the Grand River from Inverhaugh to the Covered Bridge in West Montrose to raise funds for Silver Lake. The paddle is 1.5 hours and passes some of the most beautiful countryside in Waterloo Region.

We suggest a fundraising goal of $500 per canoe. Some canoes have raised $2,500 and others have raised $250, so do what you can!
