New Camps for 2018!

We’re always looking for new and exciting programs to offer families and campers. Here are a few of the new ones we’ve developed for 2018:

Family Camp, May 18-20: Best described as all-inclusive camping, this weekend is the perfect opportunity to get acquainted with Silver Lake! We provide the programming, staff, food and accommodation so you can enjoy camp together……as a family.  When registering you can opted for a private cabin, a shared cabin (invite another family – fun times!) or bring a tent/trailer – it’s up to you. Special guests Bryan and Julie Moyer Suderman will provide family based programming throughout the weekend.

Fishing Camp, July 22-28: For campers ages 8-11 years who just can’t get enough fishing time, this program will see campers explore some great fishing holes in the local area including Silver Lake (we have really good fishing in Silver Lake), Chesley Lake and the Sauble River. Campers will learn how to set up a fishing rod, select and install the proper lures and handle fish. Catch and release will be the practice but campers will also learn how to fillet and cook fresh fish.

Canoe Adventure Trip, August 12-18: Silver Lake has a rich history of adventure programs – hiking and canoeing. The Canoe Adventure Trip will give outtrip enthusiasts lots to be excited about. This trip, through the pristine waters of Massasauga Provincial Park, will consist of 5 days and 4 nights in the wilderness bookend with a night at camp.  Young Explorers Canoe Trip and Teen X Canoe Trip are both 3 days and 2 nights making Canoe Adventure Trip the longest outtrip currently offered.

Swimming Certification Program (Bronze Cross & Medallion), July 29- Agust 3:  (Please note that this program ends on Friday afternoon).  The Bronze Medallion Cross Combination Lifesaving Course teaches lifesaving principles. Rescuers learn self-rescue techniques, defence and release methods, and tows and carries. Lifesavers develop strokes and endurance in a timed swim. Swimmers spend 6-7 hours a day focused on the course.  Evening programming is low-key due to the physically-demanding nature of the course and the need to review course materials.

Parent & Child Hike, August 26-31: (Please note that this program ends on Friday afternoon). Explore the Bruce Trail in Niagara for a guided hike from Queenston Heights to Vineland. Hikers will sleep in churches and enjoy evening outtings and activities. Silver Lake will provide the necessary equipment, food and local transportation. The program will start and end in the Niagara area (not at camp).  Each registered camper must bring a parent or guardian with them (there is no charge for one parent when a camper registers for this hike).
