Thanks to the generousity of the Bergen Family, we are in the process of building a new insulated cabin in place of Aspens. The piers are poured, the site is graded and Brubacher Contractors will work throughout the winter to have the cabin ready for Spring 2014. The new Aspens cabin will follow the same general design as Silverbirch and Dogwood but will be slightly larger to incorporate a larger entrance, additional storage and separate sleeping space for teachers visiting through our Outdoor Education program.

I am pleased, actually thrilled, to welcome Melanie Cameron to our leadership team. Many of you will know Melanie through her role as teacher at Rockway Mennonite Collegiate and/or mother of Brandon, Laika, Matthew and Rukhsana. Melanie is married to Mark Morton and lives in Kitchener where they attend Stirling Ave Mennonite Church. Melanie brings plenty of experience to the role including 5 years on staff at Silver Lake,1 year at Fraser Lake where she developed and led their CIT program and 5 years at Stirling Ave Mennonite Church as Youth Pastor. Melanie has an impressive educational background highlighted in her bio.
Melanie is an incredible person who I admire greatly. She’s passionate about camp and is excited to make a difference in the lives of campers and staff.
The new leadership team will consist of Rebekah Caldwell as Outdoor Education Director, Melanie Cameron as Summer Camp Director and myself as Executive Director.
Thank you for welcoming Melanie into this new role. As a leadership team we’ll continue to look for new ways of providing life changing experiences to children and we’ll remain attentive to the Holy Spirit to see what great things God has in-store for Silver Lake!
Sincerely,
David Erb, Executive Director
