Outtrips

Young eXplorer Canoe (July 6-12)  Ages 9-12

This is a great introductory outtrip.  Spend the first two days at camp in preparation and leave mid-week for a 2 night, 3 day outtrip.  Canoe along the Saugeen River, spending nights in tents, and cooking over a fire at campgrounds along the way.  Finish up the week back at camp.

Campers must pass a swim test of three lengths of the pond (30 m) and 3 minutes treading water.  (This level of swim test is the same as the swim test to swim at camp).

Young eXplorer Hike (July 6-12)  Ages 9-12

This is a great introductory outtrip.  Spend the first two days at camp in preparation and leave mid-week for a 2 night, 3 day outtrip.  Hike along the Bruce Trail, spending nights in tents, and cooking over a fire at campgrounds along the way.  Finish up the week back at camp.  Campers must pass the swim test or swim with a PFD.  (This level of swim test is the same as the swim test to swim at camp).

Young X opening campfire is July 6 @ 3pm.  Pick up is July 12 @ 10:30am.

Campers registered in both Young eXplorer Hike/Canoe and Camp 2B can participate in the stay-over program between weeks of camp.

Adventure eXplorer Canoe (July 20-26)  Ages 11-14

A little further afield, this three night, four day outtrip is an introduction to back country canoe tripping.  Spend the first two days at camp learning outtripping skills, connecting and preparing for the trip.  Then head to Massassauga Provincial Park near Parry Sound for three nights in the back country.  Explore beautiful waterways, enjoy nights under the stars, sleep in tents, and cook over a fire at backcountry campsites.  Finish the week back at camp, unpacking, debriefing and participating in camp activities like banquet and campfire.

Campers must pass the swim test of five lengths of the pond (50m) and 5 minutes treading water. 

Adventure eXplorer Hike (July 20-26)  Ages 11-14

A little further afield, this three night, four day outtrip is an introduction to backpacking.  Spend the first two days at camp learning skills, connecting and preparing for the trip.  While out exploring spend the day hiking the beautiful Bruce Trail with a full pack, and nights under the stars, sleeping in tents, and cooking over a fire at campsites along the way.  Campers must be able to carry their personal belongings as well as some shared equipments (i.e. part of a tent or a cooking stove).  Campers must pass the swim test or swim with a PFD. The swim test is five lengths of the pond (50m) and 5 minutes treading water.

Adventure X opening campfire is July 20 @ 3pm.  Pick up is July 26 @ 10:30am.

Campers registered in both Adventure eXplorer Hike/Canoe and Camp 2B can participate in the stay-over program between weeks of camp.

Teen eXplorer Canoe (August 3-9)  Ages 13-16

This four night, five day outtrip is for campers who have some comfort with canoeing.  Spend the first two days at camp learning skills, connecting and preparing for the trip.  Go deeper into the backcountry, canoeing beautiful waterways, catching a glimpse of wildlife, cooking over a fire and camping in tents at backcountry sites.  Finish the week back at camp.

Campers must pass the swim test of five lengths of the pond (50m) and 5 minutes treading water. 

Teen eXplorer Hike (August 3-9)  Ages 13-16

This four night, five day outtrip is for campers who have some comfort with hiking.  Spend Monday at camp learning skills, connecting and preparing for the trip and then leave for Cyprus Lake campground (northern Bruce Trail on the Saugeen Peninsula).  From there campers go back country camping for three nights.  While out exploring campers spend the day hiking, cooking outdoors and camping at campsites along the way.  Finish the week back at camp, unpacking, debriefing and participating in camp activities like banquet and campfire.

Campers must pass the swim test or swim with a PFD.

Teen X opening campfire is August 3 @ 3pm.  Pick up is August 9 @ 10:30am.

Campers registered in both Teen eXplorer Hike/Canoe and Teen Camp can participate in the stay-over program.

Bus Transportation options to and from camp this summer!

Bus departure from Kitchener to Silver Lake is at 11:30am at 50 Kent Ave. The return trip on Saturday will leave camp at 11:30am and can be expected at the Kent Ave parking lot at approximately 2:00pm. Sign up for this option when registering.  Cost is $50 per camper and is non-refundable.  Please note that registration for the bus will close the Wednesday before departure or when spots are filled.
