Overnight Camps

Mini Camp

Ages 6-10

(A)June 28-30 and (B)July 12-14

As an introduction to Silver Lake this is the perfect camp! Mini Camp is 3 days and 2 nights  Counsellor to camper ratios are increased to ensure your child receives the attention needed to make the first camp experience amazing!  Mini Camp includes a wide range of camp activities: time at the waterfront (morning dip, swimming, pond activities), nature, Quest (the faith formation program), crafts, and garden. In addition campers can choose free time activities like gaga ball, field games and tether ball before supper. Every morning there is time for reflection with Morning Watch and every evening there’s a campfire time (with an actual fire if there’s no fire ban or inclement weather) with fun skits, songs and reflection times.  We make the effort to accommodate bunk-mate requests so bring a friend!  Tip: For first time campers Mini-Camp is recommended.

Camp 1

Looking for a stay shorter than a full camp?  Camp 1 is 5 days and 4 nights. It’s a great opportunity to experience a taste of camp life   Go swimming at the pond, play games in the field, experience nature, make crafts and enjoy all camp has to offer.

Mini Camp(A) & Camp 1 Combined

Stay the week for a full camp experience to start your summer off right. Special to this week: Bryan Moyer Suderman will be leading campers in Quest, the faith formation program at camp, and sharing some great music!

Young X Hike

Ages 9-14

Looking for adventure this summer?  Combine time on-site at camp and time in God’s beautiful creation.  Hike the Bruce Trail, Canada’s longest continuous footpath, in Bruce Peninsula National Park. Campers spend the first few days onsite doing team-building, enjoying traditional camp activities and preparing for the trip. They start their off-site adventure mid-week and return to camp in time for showers and banquet on Friday. Led by qualified staff on carefully selected routes, this hike is perfect for forging new friendships and gaining practical outdoor skills. SLMC provides necessary equipment.  Silver Lake is proud to teach “no-trace” camping principles.

Young X Canoe

Spend the first few days onsite doing team-building, enjoying traditional camp activities and preparing for the trip. Start the off-site adventure mid-week and return to camp in time for showers and banquet on Friday. Led by qualified staff on carefully selected routes, this trip is perfect for forging new friendships and gaining practical outdoor skills. Participants must be confident in the water and pass a swim test.  SLMC provides necessary equipment.  Silver Lake is proud to teach “no-trace” camping principles.

Camp 2

Ages 9-14

A great overnight camp with a taste of everything.  Campers participate in all camp has to offer including canoeing, crafts, kayaking, low ropes course, nature, archery, Quest, field games and worship/campfire. As a cabin, campers pick their activity schedule.

Tip to Camp 2 Parents: You can register a camper for 1 or 2 weeks. For 2 weeks, register for Camp 2 as well as Young Explorers Hike or Young Explorers Canoe. 

Adventure Hike

Ages 9-14

This camp is for anyone who loves sports!  Come play basketball, volleyball, soccer, tether ball, dodge ball and gaga ball along with all kinds of other camp activities!

NEW!! Crafts Camp

Ages 8-14

This camp is for anyone who loves crocheting, needlework and sewing!  Campers work together on a comforter project to give away to a family in need and also work on a crocheting or cross-stitch project to take home.  When not crafting campers will have lots of time to enjoy all kinds of other camp activities!

NEW!! Dance Camp

Ages 8-14

July 12-18

This camp is for anyone who loves to dance!  In this camp, learn traditional Irish ceili dances and throughout the week, use those moves to put together a story-dance.  No Irish dance experience required!  This is a great way for anyone to learn new dances, unleash creative energy, and make new friends!   When not dancing, campers will explore a broad range of other camp activities.

Climbing Camp

Ages 10-14

July 19- 25.

Grow climbing skills with great staff as guides.  Climbing camp provides a space for kids to explore climbing in a safe and welcoming environment.  Each day campers will learn and practice new climbing skills such as knot tying, belaying, and different climbing techniques. There will also be time at initiatives and at team building games.  When not climbing, campers explore a broad range of other camp activities.

Fishing Camp

Ages 10-14

July 19-25

Grab your fishing rod and come to camp to reel in the fish at Silver Lake, Chesley Lake and  in the deep waters of Lake Huron!  When not fishing, campers explore a broad range of  camp activities.  Lake Huron’s largest fishing derby starts July 27 so you can go straight to a fishing derby after picking up your campers! Boating Camp

Ages 10-14

July 19-25

Canoe, kayak and sail at Silver Lake.  Learn safety habits and boating skills.  Spend a day paddling on the Sauble River (weather permitting).  Participants must be confident in the water and pass a swim test.  When not boating, campers will explore a broad range of other camp activities.

Food and Garden Camp

Ages 10-14

July 19-25

Connect with the food you eat!  Plant seeds, care for the garden,  build a bean trellis, harvest from the garden, identify and eat edible plants, preserve and dry food, make (and eat!) ice cream, cook pizza in the outdoor oven, create amazing campfire treats, compost and prepare soil for the next planting.  This camp takes you full circle with food!  Food never tasted so good.  When not gardening or making food, campers will explore a broad range of other camp activities.

Teen X Hike

Ages 13-16

July 26- August 1

Teen X Canoe

Ages 13-16

July 26- August 1

Time onside and 4 days, 3 nights off-site in Massasauga Provincial Park.  Led by qualified staff on carefully selected routes, this canoe trip is perfect for forging new friendships and gaining practical outdoor skills.  Participants must be confident in the water and pass a swim test.  SLMC provides necessary equipment.  Silver Lake is proud to teach “no-trace” camping principles.  Often Teen X campers stay for Teen Camp for a two week camp experience.

Swimming Certification (Bronze Cross & Medallion)

Ages 14-17

July 26- August 1

Teaches lifesaving principles. Rescuers learn self-rescue techniques, defence and release methods, and tows and carries. Lifesavers develop strokes and endurance in a timed swim. Swimmers spend 6-7 hours a day focused on the course.  Evening programming is low-key due to the physical demands of the course and the need to review course materials.  At the end of the week and exam is conducted to assess skill level.

Teen Camp

This camp is a must for any Teen! Onsite with lots of friends and time to enjoy camp to the fullest. The programming is tailored to teens with creative activities and plenty of time for traditional camp activities as well! Tip to Parents: You can register your camper for more than one week . Combine Teen Camp with a Teen X Hike or Teen X Canoe and /or the Canoe Adventure Trip.

Camp 5

Canoe Adventure Trip

Ages 12-15

This trip, through the pristine waters of Massasauga Provincial Park, is 5 days and 4 nights in the wilderness with a night at camp at the beginning and the end of the trip.  Led by qualified staff on carefully selected routes, this canoe trip is perfect for forging new friendships and gaining practical outdoor skills.  Participants must be confident in the water and pass a swim test.  SLMC provides necessary equipment.  Silver Lake is proud to teach “no-trace” camping principles.

NEW!! Algonquin 8 Night Canoe Trip

Ages 13-16

August 9-22 

After a day of preparation, campers leave for 8 nights out in beautiful Algonquin Park, putting in at Canoe Lake.  After 8 nights out under the stars, seeing wildlife and soaking in creation, the final days are spent at camp debriefing the trip, reflecting on the week and providing feedback about skill development, teamwork and initiative developed over the trip.  This trip is perfect for forging new friendships and gaining practical outdoor skills.

Campers learn boat safety, paddling fundamentals and skills.  Participants must be confident in the water and pass a swim test.  A PFD must be worn at all times when near, on or in the water. Must have previous experience on a minimum 2 night canoe trip.  SLMC provides necessary equipment.  Silver Lake is proud to teach “no-trace” camping principles.

Skillz Camp

Ages 10-15

August 16-22

Looking to improve your skill?  Come to camp to get a badge when successfully completing skills in one of the following: swimming, archery, climbing, paddling, sailing, wood carving, wilderness or ukelele playing.  Have a ton of fun doing lots of other camp activities too!  Campers choose one skill for a morning session and one skill for an afternoon session Monday through Friday.  This year Silver Lake will offer Level 1 (beginner) instruction only in archery, climbing, paddling, sailing, wood carving, and wilderness skills.  Silver Lake will offer Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 instruction in swimming and ukelele playing.

New!! CampOUT

Ages 12-17

CampOUT is a supportive space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, queer, 2 Spirit  plus  (LGBTQ2S+), and allied youth, their siblings and children in LGBTQS2+ families.  Experience all camp has to offer while connecting with resources to foster health and well-being and having fun!

Campers in Leadership Training

CAMPERS IN LEADERSHIP TRAINING (CILTs) is a 2 year program for ages 15-17 that equips campers to be effective leaders at camp and beyond.

CILT 1 is for 15 year olds (as of January 1, 2020) who want to learn leadership skills that can be used in all aspects of life. Participants are encouraged to develop a sense of self as they grow in understanding of leadership styles, group dynamics and communication skills. Open-ended spiritual discussions provide opportunities for spiritual growth. Participants build hard skills as they lead their 3 day backpacking trip on the Bruce Trail. Registration begins on February 1st at 7am!

July 12-25 or August 9-22.  Ages 15 or 16 

CILT 2 is a program for teens who completed CILT 1 with a focus on counselling/staffing skills for use in the context of Christian Camping.  Space is limited!

Follows CILT 1  July 12-25 or July 26- August 8.

Day Camps

In addition to traditional overnight camp experiences, Silver Lake offers action packed Day Camp programming weekdays from 9am-5pm with extended drop off from 8:30-9 am for families local to Silver Lake or those vacationing in the area.  Campers participate in camp activities including swimming, canoeing, crafts, nature exploration and many more. On the Thursday evening of each week, campers are given the opportunity to stay overnight at camp, sleeping in a cabin with fellow campers and counselors (Thursday supper and Friday breakfast provided)!
