This year the women’s retreat will be a little different. Tanya Dyck Steinmann, pastor and spiritual director and other wise women will guide the group through a nourishing weekend of silence, conversation, yoga, expressive art, walking the labyrinth, good food and outdoor campfire sharing. The idea of a silent retreat can seem a bit daunting at first, but once you experience it, it is actually remarkably freeing. Being silent for a period of time allows us to become more fully present in the moment; it helps to quiet the chatter of our minds so that we can listen deeply to our inner stirrings, bringing clarity and new perspective. For those who need to social (like me) there will be plenty of time to enjoy outdoor activities, conversation and laughter. If you are longing for some time to step back, to ponder, to rest, to let go, to just be… this retreat is for you.
Let me seek, then, the gift of silence, and poverty, and solitude, where everything I touch is turned into a prayer: where the sky is my prayer, the birds are my prayer, the wind in the trees is my prayer, for God is all in all. – Thomas Merton
