Remembering Jennie and Zoe Wiebe
Even as SLMC has been preparing joyfully for camp registration to open this weekend, many in our community have been grieving the passing of two wonderful people who shared their love and support with Silver Lake in various ways. Jennie and her daughter Zoe Wiebe died tragically on January 27. Zoe had been an SLMC camper and retreat lover, including our last Fall Work Weekend. Her surviving siblings, Nat and Josh, are two members of our tight-knit staff community. We have especially been holding these friends of ours in our thoughts this week.
One of Jennie’s lasting imprints on SLMC will be the beautiful photos she took all over camp in Summer 2019. A significant number of the iconic photos that you see on our website were captured by Jennie’s professional eye. Enjoy the gallery below of just a few of her most stunning shots.
In the coming days, Jennie and Zoe’s communities will be gathering to honour their lives and our love for them. Find their obituaries, visitation, and funeral details at Erb & Good Funeral Home.
In times like these, we can only draw close to each other and hold each other’s questions and tears with love and care.
May the campfire’s warmth enfold you and the rustling trees remind you of all that is good and hopeful and still at work in the world. Peace from SLMC.
